Annette Owens-Tucker, 63 of Brinkley, passed away on Wednesday January 17 at a family member's home in Brinkley.
Annette was born May 15, 1960 in Moro, Arkansas to Mable Bowman and Lynn Owens. She was raised in a loving nurturing home by her mother and adoptive father Robert and Mable Culp.
Annette was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Moro.
While growing up in Moro, Annette attended the local Moro Public Schools. She went on to attend Lee Senior High School in Marianna, where she graduated with the class of 1978. Upon completing high school, she went on to attend Arkansas Tech University at Russellville for more than a year. In 1991, she graduated Crowley's Ridge Technical College's Nursing Program to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Annette worked in the nursing field as a Certified Nurse Assistant and as a License Practical Nurse for more than 35 years before retiring. Throughout her long and illustrious career, she worked for Cla-Clif Nursing and Rehab Center and St. Joseph Nursing Home in Brinkley, first as a CNA and then as an LPN. In 2002, she went to work with the Monroe County Human Development Center in Brinkley, where she worked until 2018. She had also previously worked for the St. Francis County Human Development Center in Forrest City, where she worked for more than 5 years.
While working for the Human Development Center, Annete became very active in Special Olympics, a cause near and dear to her heart. She became very active as a teacher nurse and a coach. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Annette was united in holy matrimony to Michael Tucker May 13, 1981.
Her biological father Lynn Owens, sister Kim Owens, maternal grandparents: Avant Bowman Sr. and Augusta Bowman and her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Robert Tucker Sr. and Dehoma Portwood Tucker all preceded Annette in death.
Survivors are her husband of 42 years Michael Tucker of Brinkley, AR; her son Brandon DeShun (Rowena) Tucker of Sherwood, AR; daughters Kristen "Kitty" Tucker of Sherwood, AR and Tangila L. Porter of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren: Dystiny Wilburn, Brandi Tucker, Kristianna Craig, Jillian (Cameron) Tucker-Willis and Rodney Craig Jr. all of Sherwood, AR; Kennedy Taylor of Forrest City, AR; Elijah Porter, Natalie Porter, Nija Porter and Parris Moore all of Little Rock, AR; seven great grandchildren; mother and father Mable and Robert Culp of Moro, AR; six sisters: Laura Sherrod of Newark, NJ; Karen Owens, Kelly Owens, Kristie Owens and Karee Owens all of Chicago, IL and Aviva Carter of West Memphis, AR; and her fur baby Missy Tucker of Brinkley, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation for will be held on Saturday morning, January 27 from 9 until 10 AM at St. Paul Full Gospel Church, 509 North Emmons Avenue in Brinkley. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 10 AM at St. Paul Full Gospel Church in Brinkley with Reverend Leroy Harper officiating. Interment will take place at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Brinkley by C.J.
