Charles "C.A." Haywood Sr.

Charles Aaron “C.A” Haywood, 88 of Brinkley, passed away on Thursday morning, January 26 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.

C.A. was born August 24, 1934 in Rondo, Arkansas to Charlie Haywood and Lydia Maude Noel-Haywood.

C.A. received his formal education from the local schools in Rondo.

C.A. was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Moro for more than 15 years, where he served as a member of the Deacon Board. He was formerly a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe.

C.A. was employed by Union Pacific Railroad as a Welder for many years before retiring.

Two step-sons: Oliver Cobbs Jr., and William Henry “Billy” Cobbs; His parents: Charlie and Lydia Haywood; a brother Wardell Robinson and three sisters: Bernice Haywood, Hattie Haywood and Myrtle Robinson all preceded C.A. in death.

Survivors are: his wife of 38 years Willie Jean Haywood of Brinkley, AR; eight sons: Charles A. Haywood, Jr. and Sylvester Haywood both of Chicago, Ill; Jonas Haywood and Charles Haywood III both of Brinkley, AR; Bishop Jerry (Cornelia) Cobbs of Pine Bluff, AR; Bernard (Felicia) Cobbs of Jonesboro, AR; Gregory Cobbs Sr. and McKinley Cobbs both of Brinkley, AR; a daughter Merita Haywood-Bradshaw of Chicago, Ill; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters: Romelia Martin of Moro, AR and Emma Jean Haywood of Garfield, NJ; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, February 3 from 5 until 7 PM at C.J. Williams Funeral Directors and Cremations, 124 South Main Avenue in Brinkley. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 11 AM at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 372 Lee 907 Road in Moro. Interment will take place at Baines Cemetery in Smale by C.J.
