Charles Gene Pettis

Charles Gene Pettis, 57, of Joliet, Illinois, formerly of Little Rock, passed away on September 18, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois.

Charles was born January 6, 1966 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to Joshua Pettis Sr. and Nora Banks-Pettis.

While living in Joliet, Charles attended church at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with his family.

Charles received his education from the Little Rock School District. He attended Central High School.

Charles was employed with Bapsome Brothers, a company that manufactured chemical soaps, in Romeoville, Illinois for over 10 years, before his health began to fail.

His father Joshua Pettie Sr., and his maternal and paternal grandparents all preceded Charles in death.

Survivors are: his son Joseph Pettis of Little Rock, AR; his daughter Brooklin Pettis of Bowling Brook, Ill; his mother Nora Banks Pettis of Joliet, Ill; two brothers: Joshua Pettis Jr. of Little Rock, AR and Bryan (Tangie) Pettis of Greenville, SC; his sister: Barbara Dawkins of Holly Grove, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening , September 29 from 5 until 7 PM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, September 30 at 10 AM at First Baptist Church, 36 Padgett Road in Pine City, Arkansas with Reverend Lamont Swanigan officiating. Interment will take place at Pine City Cemetery by C.J.
