Charles Edward Steppes Sr., 79 of Marianna, formerly of Moro (Garrett Grove Community) passed away on Thursday evening, August 24 at The Springs of Avalon Rehab Center in West Memphis.
Charles was born March 10, 1944 in Moro, Arkansas to Marquette C. Steppes and Mable Garrett-Steppes.
Charles received his early education at the Moro (Garrett Grove) Public Schools.
Charles was a self-employed Farmer. He worked for many years on his family's farm in Lee County until he retired.
In 1976, Charles united in holy matrimony to Willie Mae "Peaches" Jackson. To this union a son was born.
His parents: Marquette and Mable Steppes; and a bother Robert Steppes all preceded Charles in death.
Survivors are: his wife Willie Mae Steppes of Vallejo, CA; his son Charles E. (Sonya) Steppes Jr of Proffer, WA; four brothers: Alvin Steppes of Memphis, TN; Ronnie (Annette) Steppes of Chicago, Ill; Stanley (Paulette) Steppes of Kalamazoo, MI; and Clyde (Marian) Steppes of Kansas City, MO; his sister Cloatean Turner of Memphis, TN; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning, September 9 at 10 AM at the Marian Anderson Community Center, 209 South Grand Avenue in Brinkley with Reverend Cecil Roberts delivering the eulogy.
