Clarence Harris, 69, of Cotton Plant, passed away on Sunday October 29, at his

home in Cotton Plant, Arkansas following a brief illness.

 

Clarence Harris was born July 18, 1954 in Brinkley, Arkansas to John Henry Harris and Josephine Fennell.

 

Clarence and his family were faithful members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Cotton Plant. He was formerly a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Brinkley.

 

Clarence received his formal education from the Brinkley Public Schools. He was a member of the Brinkley High School class of 1973.

 

Clarence was a self-employed carpenter by trade. He worked as a carpenter for over 45 years. He learned his trade from his step-father the late QDallis Whitaker Sr. and his lifelong mentor the late Rufus Alexander.

 

Clarence was united in holy matrimony to Dorothy Hampton in November 1979 in Brinkley. The Lord blessed them with nearly 44 years together.

 

His parents: John Henry Harris and Josephine Fennell-White, and two sisters: Carrie Hardin and Sarah Bondon White all preceded Clarence in death.

 

Survivors are his wife: Dorothy Harris of Cotton Plant, AR; one son: Marico (Latoya) Hampton of Pine Bluff, AR; two daughters: TaShima (Terry) Jackson of Conway, AR; Kadesha Marshall of Arlington, TX; eight grandchildren:Shuntiera (Brandon) Shepherd, Ta'Keyviun Jackson, Terrion Jackson, Semiya Hampton, Mariah Hampton, Marico Hampton Jr., Robyn Jackson, Za'Quavian Jackson; two great-grandchildren:   Ava Shepherd and Ariyah Shepherd; five brothers: Archie (Doris) Roark of Conway, AR; Leon (Janice) Harris of Brinkley, AR; Alfred (Patricia) Harris of Denver, CO; Theado Turnage of Newport, AR; and QDallas (Andrea) Whitaker Jr. of Knightdale, NC; six sisters: Regina Parker; Myra Harris-Hall and Floscine (Romey) Harris all of Brinkley AR; Brenda Woods-Patin of Inglewood, CA; Angela (Curtis) Draper of Moro, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

A Visitation will be held on Friday evening, November 3 from 5 until 7 PM at First Missionary Baptist Church, 313 South New Orleans in Brinkley. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon, November 4 at 2:30 PM at First Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Archie Roark officiating. Interment will take place at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Brinkley by C.J.
