Dorcy Ann Biggers, 78, of Augusta passed away on Thursday, July 18, at her home in Augusta.
Dorcy was born on April 29, 1946, in Patterson, Arkansas to Harvey West and Dorothy Lee Roddy.
Dorcy recieved her education from the Augusta Public School District. She was a proud graduate of Carver High School Class of 1964.
Dorcy was a faithful member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta for more than 40 plus years. During her time here she served as a Deaconess, church Program Chairperson, Choir Director, church Announcement Clerk and on the Kitchen Committee. She had previously been a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church also in Augusta for many years.
Dorcy was united in holy matrimony to T.J. Biggers in 1990.
In her earlier years she was with Van Heusen Shirt Factory in Augusta, where she worked for more than 27 years before retiring in 1992. She later went on to work as the store manager for the Factory Connection in Augusta. She also worked as a substitute teacher at the Augusta School district.
Dorcy's son Dewayne Adams; her grandson; Jay Kwame Briscoe: her parents; Dorothy Roddy Freeman and Harvey West; her siblings Elbert L. Fobbs and Kenneth D. Fobbs Sr. all proceeded her in death.
Survivors are her: husband of 34 years Thomas J. Biggers of Augusta, AR; one son: Roderick Tatum of Houston, TX; three daughters: Daphne (Randy) Spears of Augusta, AR, Evangella Tatum of Augusta, AR, and a bonus daughter Michelle Brason of Little Rock, AR; six grandchildren Martisia Tatum of Houston, TX; Antwon Adams of Chicago, IL, Demarcus Spears of Dallas, TX, Randy Spears Jr. of Augusta, AR, Lorenzo Pryor II of Houston, TX, and a bonus granddaughter Ronecka Spears of Conway, AR; one brother: Edmond E. Fobbs of Augusta, AR; one sister: Doreen (Leonard) Davidson of Augusta, AR; three sisters-in-law: Della Fobbs of Augusta, AR, Luvenia Fobbs of Searcy, AR, and Ellouise (Max) Maddox of Little Rock, AR an aunt: Minnie Mae Green of Augusta, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 422 Mulberry Street in Augusta with Reverend Jesse Booker serving as Eulogist.
