Doris Jean Calahan

Doris Jean Calahan, 70 of Brinkley passed away on Wednesday, March 5 at her home in Brinkley.

Doris was born on September 13, 1954, in Clarendon, Arkansas to William Arthur Moore and Laura Daniels. She was the widow of the late Elmer Calahan Sr., whom she married in 1973.

Doris received her education from Clarendon Public Schools. She was a proud graduate of Clarendon High School Class of 1973.

Doris was a faithful member of New Genesis Church in Brinkley for more than 15 years. She was formerly a member Jesus Name Holiness House of Prayer of Brinkley under the leadership of Pastor Marzie Harris for more than 20 years

In her earlier years Doris worked as a seamstress for Farris Fashions for 7 years before she became a homemaker.

Her husband of 50 years Elmer Calahan Sr., her son: Joseph Calahan; her grandchild: LaKeira Calahan: her parents: William A. Moore and Laura Daniels: her in laws: Willie Ervin Calahan and Virginia Thomas-Calahan; siblings: Robert Whitside, Lemuel Whiteside Sr., Marian Hall and Wesley Whiteside; her dear aunt and uncle: Caudie Fisher and Vernon Fisher Webb; four all proceeded Doris in death.

Survivors are: nine sons Elmer (Janice) Calahan Jr. of Searcy, AR; Julius (Latrisca) Calahan of Brinkley, AR; William (Angela) Calahan of Jonesboro, AR; Jeremiah (Erykah) Calahan Sr. of Indianapolis, IN; Samuel (Teresa) Calahan Sr. of Russellville, AR; Stephen Calahan of Russellville, AR; David Calahan of Benton, AR; Daniel (Malaih) Calahan Sr. of Hazen, AR and Anthony Calahan of Russellville, AR; three daughters: Joella Calahan of Dallas, TX; Gennifer (Calvin) Calahan of Brinkley, AR; and Rebecca (Kevin) Calahan of Jonesboro, AR; 29 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; a brother: Harry Daniels of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters: Gennie North of Dallas, TX and Carolyn (Alon) Whiteside-Kendall of Jonesboro, AR; four brothers-in law: Robert (Eula) Calahan of Little Rock, AR; Dave (Lillian) Calahan of Brinkley, AR; Ozell (Donna) McNeal of Flint, MI and Edward (Shirley) Calahan of Chicago, IL; four sisters in law: Rozetta Holmes of Chicago, IL; Philemur Malone of Little Rock, AR; Carolyn (Jeff) Wilson of West Memphis, AR and Dinah Faye (Samuel) Williams of Tacoma, WA and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 22 at 1:00 PM until 2 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, at 2:00 PM at New Genesis Church, 314 North New Orleans in Brinkley with Bishop Jerry Cobbs serving as the eulogist.
