Doris Faye Terry, 76 of Mount Morris, Michigan, formerly of Wheatley, passed away on Sunday May 7 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan.
Doris Faye was born November 16, 1946 in Woodlawn, Arkansas to Robert Jordan Sr. and Myrtle Mae Haynes-Jordan. She was to widow of Leroy Terry, with whom she was married to for 46 years.
Doris Faye received her education from the Wheatley and Brinkley Public Schools. She attended Marian Anderson High School in Brinkley.
Doris was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Wheatley, where she first accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She continued to support First Baptist Church throughout her life through numerous projects and financially, even while she was lived in Michigan.
Doris Faye was employed as an assembly-line worker for the General Motors Corporation/ Truck and Bus Division in Flint for more than 25 years before she retired.
Her husband Leroy Terry; sons Anthony Terry and Bryan Terry; parents: Robert Jordan Sr. and Myrtle Mae Jordan; sisters: Brenda Mae Summers and Joyce Marie Jordan; brothers: Norris Greer, Robert Jordan Jr. and Carl Jordan; grandmother, Alberta Lockett; fur baby Meme; sisters-in-law: Beatrice Washington, Mildred Swanigan, Willie Mae Brown, Ruthie Frazier, Annarene Greer and Pauletta Jordan; and special cousin, Dr. Wilbert Jordan all preceded Doris Faye in death.
Survivors are: her daughter Cheryl (Harlan) Jackson of Flint, MI; granddaughters: Nakisha Booze of Houston, TX; Daysha (Will) Springer of Detroit, MI and Ariell Jackson of Flint, MI; grandsons: Jordan Jackson of Chapel Hill, NC: Deoctay Terry of Texas and Octavius Terry of Flint, MI; great-granddaughters, Samarie, Samaya and Samia Springer, all of Detroit, MI; great-grandson, James W. Gee of Houston, TX; sister, Lorraine (Bryant) Davis of Wheatley, AR; brother Donald (Joyce) Jordan of Brinkley, AR; her brother-in-law Henry Washington of Wheatley, AR. Doris had relatives and friends she was especially close to, nephew, Antione Summers; niece, Keita Jordan; friends: Mattie Mister, Sabrina Mosley-Hughes, Areatha McKissick, Velma Smith, Rosie Mae Terry and Erma Walker; her fur baby Co-Co and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 2 PM at Greater First Baptist Church, 119 North Memphis Avenue in Wheatley with Pastor A.C. Simmons officiating. Interment will take place at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Wheatley by C.J.
