Earlene D. Henson-Giles, 90 of Oakland, California, formerly of Clarendon, passed away on Friday, April 7 at San Leandro Medical Center in San Leandro, California.
Earlene was born November 11, 1932 in Clarendon, Arkansas to James and Isabel Henson. She was the youngest of five children born to this union. She was the widow of Samuel Giles.
While growing up in Clarendon, Earlene was baptized and became a member of Baptist Grove MB Church. The later years, she became a Seventh Day Adventist. She worshipped at the Elm Hurst Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oakland California, where she attended for many years.
Earlene attended school at Clarendon Public Schools. She was a 1952 graduate of G.W. Carver High School. She went on to attend AM&N College in Pine Bluff to study Nursing.
Earlene was employed as a License Practical Nurse with Eden Hospital of Castro Valley for more than 20 plus years. She later went on to work for Fairmont Hospital in San Leandro for 12 years. She retired after a glorious 38 years career in the early 1990s.
Her husband Samuel Giles, her parents James and Isabel Henson, her siblings: Mary Henson Littlejohn, Bernice Henson, Louis George Henson, and Leno Vel Henson; her nephews: Cornelius Littlejohn, Edward Littlejohn, William Henry Littlejohn, and Douglas Littlejohn all preceded Earlene in death.
Survivors are her daughter, Sandra Giles of Oakland, CA; several nephews and nieces: Shirley Sevier, Ora Lee Barnes, Dorothy Fiddmont, Alice Jean Bullock, Gladys Carol Daniels, Elizabeth Kaye Trice, and Sandra J. Johnson as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
An interment ceremony will be held on Thursday morning, May 25 at 10 AM at Shady Grove Cemetery, Highway 86 in Clarendon by C.J.
