Edward Louis Penn

Edward Louis Penn, 76 of Searcy, formerly of Augusta, passed away on Wednesday, September 6 at Unity Health White County Medical Center in Searcy.

Louis was born January 25, 1947 in Augusta, Arkansas to John Penn and Bernice Dozier.

Louis was a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta. He grew up in New Salem Baptist Church and reunited with the church after moving back to the area almost 17 years ago.

Louis received his education from the Augusta Public School. He was a 1965 graduate of Carver High School in Augusta.

Louis was united in holy matrimony to Effie Mae Riddle in 1966.

Louis was employed as a Postal Carrier for the United States Postal service in Chicago, Illinois for more than 35 years before retiring in 2002.

His parents John Penn and Bernice Dozier-Penn; two brothers: Charles Dozier and Arthur Franklin, and a sister Dorothy Frazier all preceded Louis in death.

Survivors are: his wife of 57 years Effie Mae Penn of Searcy, AR; two sons: James Edward Penn of Beebe, AR; and Elliot Penn of Searcy, AR; his daughter Andrette (Jerry) Butler of Searcy, AR; a granddaughter he helped raise Alicia Ann Frazier of Searcy, AR; a bonus daughter Cashaba Thirhill of Searcy, AR; three grandchildren a great grandchild; an uncle Tom (Barbara) Saylors of Augusta, AR; and a nephew Tyrone (Terri) Frazier of Chicago, Ill; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening, September 15 from 6 until 8 PM at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 1003 East Highway 64 in Augusta. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 3 PM at Holy Ghost Academy Church of God in Christ, 927 South 4th Street in Augusta with Reverend Archie Roark officiating. Interment will take place at New Quiet Cemetery in Augusta by C.J.
