Emma Jean Smith-O’Neal , 81, of Stuttgart passed away on Tuesday, July 09 at her home in Stuttgart.

Emma was born on August 10, 1942, in Stuttgart, Arkansas to Leroy Smith Sr. and Margaret Lee-Smith.

Emma accepted Christ at an early age and became a lifelong member of Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Stuttgart.

Emma received her education from the Stuttgart Public School System. She attended Holman High School.

In her earlier years Emma was employed aby Riceland Foods, where she worked for more than 23 years. She retired in 1994.

Emma was united in holy matrimony to Frank James O’Neal Sr. in 1972.

Her husband Frank James O’Neal Sr; two children; Dentine O’Neal and Winela O’Neal; grandchildren Latrice Adams, Marrisa Adams, and Cassandra O’Neal; ; two great grandchildren: Braylyn O’Neal and Zicoerion Reed; four deceased siblings: Eugene Smith, Roy Smith, Chester Smith and Johnny Smith; two deceased sisters: Shirley Smith and Flora Smith all proceeded Emma Jean in death.

Survivors are her: four sons Wayne (Phyllis) Smith, Martin Smith Sr., Leo Adams Sr. and Frank (Tresa) O"Neal Jr. all of Stuttgart, AR; three daughters: Mae (Paul Sr.) Reed, Debra O’Neal and Dorothy (Willie) O’Neal all of Stuttgart, AR; three brothers: George Lee Smith of Houston, TX; James Smith of Pine Bluff, AR and Floyd (Charlene) Smith of Stuttgart, AR; two sisters Lula Ice of Stuttgart, AR and Sharon Smith of Little Rock, AR a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Visitation will be held Friday, July 19 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at CJ Williams Funeral Directors and Cremations , 206 West Washington in Stuttgart. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 11:00 AM at Holy Benton Temple Church of God In Christ, 1208 North Maple Street in Stuttgart with Reverend Robert Carroll officiating. Pallbearers are Kentavion Daniels, Quartreion Bennett, Franklin O’Neal, Ellis Williams, Steven Smith, Williams Johnson, James McCoy, and Jeremy O’Neal.
