Estella Armstrong Hornes, 61 of McDonough, Georgia formerly of McCrory passed away on Wednesday morning, February 21 at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Georgia.
Estella was born on November 4, 1962 in McCrory, Arkansas to Clifton Armstrong Sr. and Artimes Freeman- Armstrong.
While growing up in McCrory, Estella was a member of Morning View Missionary Baptist Church for many years, where she sang in the church's choir.
Estella was received her education from the McCrory Public Schools. She was a 1981 graduate of McCrory High School.
Estella went on to attend The University of Central Arkansas in Conway, where she joined The Lambda Upsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication as well as her Masters in Psychology.
Estella served in the United States Army for 13 years. She fought in The Gulf War as well as the Bosnian War getting a high ranking as Captain, for which she received an honorable discharge. During her time in the military, she received numerous medals and commendations for her exemplary service.
Estella was employed as an EEO Investigator for the United States Postal Service for several years.
Her parents Clifton and Artimes Armstrong and a sister Latrice Armstrong all preceded Estella in death.
Survivors are her daughter Camryn Hornes of Atlanta, GA; her sister, Mary (Lamar) Wright of Searcy, AR; three brothers: Clifton (Virginia) Armstrong Jr. of Patterson, AR; Tommy (Andrea Fuzzell) Armstrong of Springfield, MO; and Bobby (Andrea) Armstrong of Searcy, Arkansas; and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 2 at 2:30 PM at Morning View Baptist Church, 824 East Raney Avenue in McCrory with Pastor Bobby Armstrong officiating.
