Hazel Beatrice Hampton, 75, of Holly Grove passed away Sunday, July 28, at her home in Holly Grove.
Hazel was born on December 6, 1948, in Holly Grove, Arkansas to T.B. Isby Sr. and Irma Corns.
Hazel along with her family relocated to Chicago, Illinois when she was 2 years of age.
Hazel received her education from the Chicago Public School System. She was a 1967 graduate Martin Luther King High School. She went on to attend and graduate from Kennedy-King College both in Chicago.
After relocating back to Holly Grove in the 1970's, Hazel became a member of New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church where she remained her until her passing.
Hazel was united in holy matrimony to Charles "Rook" Hampton in 1969.
In her earlier years she was employed with Pine Crest Cleaners in Brinkley, where she worked for 15 years. She later went to work as a store clerk at Mane's Liquor Store in Holly Grove for 7 years. She also worked as a cook at the Kountry Kitchen in Holly Grove for before her subsequent illness and passing.
Her husband Charles "Rook" Hampton; 2 sons: Cedric Earl Hampton and Darius Wayne Hampton her parents: T.B. Isby Sr. and Irma Corns; brothers; Charlie C. Isby, Willie J. Isby, Paul Isby, L.T. Isby, and T.B. Isby Jr.; her sister-in-law: Linda Isby and her longtime companion Travis Hunter all preceded Hazel in death.
Survivors are her: two sons: Timothy Hampton Sr. and Jarius Hampton both of Holly Grove, AR; one daughter Kimberly (Maurice) Ann Isby-Eichelburger (Bruce) of Brinkley, AR; seven grandchildren: Kenyunna Riconda (Marquis) Isby-Rice and Marvin Isby both of Pine Bluff, AR; Cedrice Hampton, and Timothy Hampton Jr. all of Holly Grove; Mya Hampton of Conway, AR; and Brandi Bryant of Chicago, IL. Kenneisha (Brandon) Jones of Clarendon, AR; seven great-grandchildren Bronshea Ferrell, Tildon Grayson, Ace Hampton, Promyse Hampton, Melody Burroughs, Brandeigh Jones, Kenleigh Jones, KeMari Rice, and Trinitee Rice; three brothers: Lee Anthony Isby of Dallas, GA, Carnell Mayo and Larando Mayo both of Little Rock, AR; three sisters: Mary Jean Estes of Pittsburg, CA, Christine Flowers of Holly Grove, AR and Carolyn Yancey of Little Rock, AR; three sisters-in-law: Jettie Rose Isby and Juanita Isby both of Chicago, IL and Eva Isby and Flossie Isby of Little Rock, AR. and one brother-in-law: Willie C Estes of Pittsburg, CA; her two very dear friends: Joyce Harp and Jerry Daniel both of Holy Grove, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10 at 3 PM at Clarendon Holly Grove High School Auditorium, 320 North 7th Street, in Clarendon with Reverend Dennis W. Wilson serving as the eulogist.
