Ione Marlene Valentine

Ione Marlene Valentine, 93, of Augusta passed away on Friday, February 21 at the Woodruff County Health and Rehab Center in McCrory.

Ione was born on October 17, 1931 in Augusta, Arkansas to Clyde Bobo and Dorothy Foley.

Ione received her education from the Augusta Public Schools. She was a proud graduate of Carver High School class of 1950.

Ione was a lifelong member of the Ward Chapel Church in Augusta, Arkansas. She served many roles in the church: she was a member of the choir, church announcer, a Sunday school teacher, she served as a Stewardess, she was on the missionary board, kitchen committee, a member of the Pastor's aid society and the served as longtime church secretary.

Ione was united in holy matrimony to Paul Valentine in 1950 they were married for 70 years until his passing in 2020. And to this union five daughters were born.

Ione was employed by Van Heusen Shirt Factory in Augusta, Arkansas for 20 plus years and a teachers aid for 5 years with the Augusta Public Schools.

Her husband Paul Valentine; her parents Clyde Bobo and Jeff and Dorothy Foley Carr; and her two siblings; Cora Redus and Charles Carr proceeded Ione in death.

Survivors are: five daughters Charisse (Jimmie) Nunn of Rockford, IL; Paula (Alex) Jackson of Augusta, AR; Gwen (James) Tillman of Little Rock, AR; Dorothy (Bobby) Brown of Augusta, AR and Yvette Renee' (Calvin) Peterson of Little Rock, AR; six grandchildren: Jason (Jocelyn) Jackson of Bryant, AR; Courtney (Jermahn) McCree of Charlotte, NC; Brittini Brown, PhD of Laurel, MD; Page (Reggie) Brewer of Woodridge, VA; English Peterson of Little Rock, AR; and Bobby Jordan Brown of White Hall, AR; five great grandchildren; Jaiyah Jackson and Jaylen Jackson both of Bryant, AR, Jrue McrCee of Charlotte, NC; Blake Brown of White Hall, AR; and Samara Brewer of Woodridge, VA; her brother Jeff (Patricia) Carr of Little Rock, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday March 2 at 12:00 PM at Ward Chapel Church, 500 Sycamore Street in Augusta with Reverend Gary Browning serving as the eulogist.
