Jimmy Dink Cox, 71 of Holly Grove, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 12 at Central Arkansas Veterans Hospital in Little Rock.
Jimmy or "Dank" as he was well known by all, was born March 25, 1952 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to Johnny Cox Sr. and Annie Bell Pride-Cox.
While growing up in Holly Grove, Jimmy was baptized and attended church at First Baptist Church.
Jimmy received his education from the Holly Grove Public School system. He was a 1970 graduate of Holly Grove Vocational High School. He then went on to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) from 1970-1971.
In September 1976, Jimmy enlisted in the United States Army, where he served for 2 years. He went on to serve an additional year in 1979 and received and honorable discharge from both enlistment periods.
Jimmy was employed with the Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas for more than 20 years, where he worked as a golf caddy. He had the opportunity to caddy for some for prominent and distinguished members and guests through the years.
His parents: Johnny Cox Sr. and Annie Bell Cox, a brother Terry Cox and a sister Alice Faye Cox all preceded Jimmy in death.
Survivors are: four brothers: Johnny Cox Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; Calvin (Sonia) Cox of Benton, AR; Greg Cox of Little Rock, AR and Darren Cox of Dallas, TX; six sisters: Bobbie Jean Lewis of Chicago, Ill; Brenda Coleman and Carolyn Franklin both of Holly Grove, AR; Johnice Cox and Kimberly Cox both of Los Angeles, CA and Nancy Cox of Allen, TX; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon, July 22, at 3 PM at First Baptist Church, 156 Mimosa in Holly Grove with Pastor Ronald Laurant officiating. Interment will take place at Hayes Cemetery in Holly Grove by C.J. Williams Funeral Directors and Cremations of Brinkley (870) 589-5036 email: williamsfuneraldirectors2022@yahoo.com
Pallbearers are: Reginald Coleman, Johnathan Humphrey, Darren Humphrey, Derrick Cox and Danny Artis.
