Joe Broadus, 79 of Cotton Plant passed away on Thursday, March 20 at the Des Arc Nursing and Rehab Center in Des Arc.
Joe was born on May 24, 1945 in Helena, Arkansas to Joe Broadus Sr. and Rosie Brocket-Broadus.
Joe received his education from Elaine Public Schools.
As a child growing up in Elaine, Joe attended the Christian Stone Missionary Baptist Church, where he has remained a lifelong member.
Joe was united in holy matrimony to Earnestine Otis.
In his earlier years "Mane Boy" as he was affectionately known, was employed by Elaine Grainery for more than 30 years until he retired in 1995 due to a work injury.
His wife Earnestine Broadus; four children: Jeremiah Broadus, Anthony Broadus, Flora Broadus and Zabrina Campbell; his grandson Quentin Broadus; his parents: Joe Broadus Sr. and Rosie Broadus; three siblings: Ruthie Willington, Essie B. Collins and Izell Broadus all proceeded Joe in death.
Survivors are four sons: Joe Broadus of Searcy, AR; Jeremy Duncan of Jonesboro, AR; Darry (Toya) Campbell of Southaven, MS and Anthony Campbell of Omaha, NE; eight daughters: Essie Broadus and Arma Broadus and Sharon Broadus all of Cotton Plant, AR; Linda Rankin of San Antonio, TX; Lawanda Broadus and Erica Duncan both of West Helena, AR, Shelia Broadus of Chickasaw, OK; and Barbara (James) Syke of Lexa, AR;34 grandchildren a host of great grandchildren; a sister: Ollie Blanchard of Helena, AR a dear friend Sarah McCoy of Cotton Plant, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 2:00 PM at Christian Stone Missionary Baptist Church, Pecan Street in Elaine.
