John David Bean Jr, 75 of Holly Grove, formerly of Brinkley passed away on Tuesday, October 22 at his home in Holly Grove.
John was born November 29, 1948 in Brinkley, Arkansas to John David Bean Sr. and Ruby Vanpelt.
John received his education from the Brinkley School District. He was a graduate of Marian Anderson High School class of 1967. He later went to enroll at Shorter College in North Little Rock, where he studied for 2 years.
"Jr. Bean" as John was affectionately known, was a member of Holy Tabernacle Tempel of Deliverance in Holly Grove, Arkansas for more than 20 years, where he played the piano and organ, and he was a soloist.
John worked with Kroger Food Store in Brinkley for over 42 years before retiring in 2012.
His two children: Terrence Bean and Maxwell Webb; his parents: John Bean Sr., Ruby Vanpelt Collier, and Abraham Collier Sr.; three deceased siblings: James Edward Vanpelt Sr., Stephen Collier and Paulette Collier; grandparents: Lawrence and Thelma Mitchell; and a mother-in-law Gertie Rose Earnest all proceeded John in death.
Survivors are: his wife of 20 years Christine Bean of Holly Grove, AR; his nine sons: Tova Bean of Brinkley, AR; Lonnie (Dora) Henderson of Wheatley, AR; Tavares Bean of Chicago, IL; David Jones of Cotton Plant, AR; John Ward of Brinkley, AR; James Clay of Zent, AR; Otis Clay of Little Rock, AR; Willie (Tanisha) Johnson Jr. of Marianna, AR; and Sherell (LaYadia) Johnson of Mesquite, TX; seven daughters; Barbara Bean of Sherwood, AR; Diretha (Steve) Walker of Benton, AR; Tatyana Bean of Little Rock, AR; Nicole Clay of Conway, AR; Shenell (Carl) Bones, Willena Johnson and Shalawna Fluker all of Holly Grove, AR; 60 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren; two brothers: Abraham Collier Jr. of North Little Rock, AR and Krisney Jorge Collier of Clarendon, AR; seven sisters: Beverly Buchanan of Little Rock, AR; Ruby Collier of Tampa, FL; Cynthia Faye Collier of Miami, FL; Rena Collier of Athens, GA; Cherie Collier of Tampa, FL; Patricia Ann (Enoch) Jones and Tracy Y. (Jerry) Daniels of Brinkley, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation services will be held Friday, November 1 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at C.J. Williams Funeral Directors, 124 South Main Avenue in Brinkley. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2 at 2:00 PM at Holy Tabernacle Temple of Deliverance, 308 East 2nd Street in Holly Grove with Pastor Sandra Lee serving as Eulogist.
