Joseph Hollister Sr., 79 of Brinkley (Fargo Community), passed away on Monday July 3 at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.
Joseph was born October 13, 1943 in Fargo to Major Hollister Sr. and Leola Marshall-Hollister.
Joseph was a member of Union Baptist Church in Fargo. He was an honorary member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Brinkley.
Joseph attended the Brinkley Public Schools. He was a graduate of Marian Anderson High School.
After high school Joseph moved to Chicago, Illinois where he lived and worked for over 40 plus years.
"Joe" or "Smokey Joe" as Joseph was lovingly known, worker as a Truck Driver for more 40 years before retiring. He was employed with
Dayton Freight and Chicago Trucking for a combined total of 35 years, before retiring in 2009. He then returned to Arkansas to live.
His daughter Beverly Hollister; parents Major Hollister Sr. and Leola Hollister; three brothers: Don Hollister, Robert Hollister and Charles Hollister; his sister Carlene Hollister all preceded Joe in death.
Survivors are: his wife Annie Hollister of Indianapolis, IN; three sons: Joseph (Victoria) Hollister Jr of Kansas City, MO; Ray Hollister of Houston, TX and Terrence Hollister of Chicago, Ill; four daughters: Shawn Riddle and Atalaya Hollister both of Little Rock, AR; Latasha (Dirk) Ellick of Omaha, NE; and LaShawn (Clarence) Franklin of Fisher, IN; A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; six brothers: Major (Brenda) Hollister Jr. of Newman, GA; Curtis (Denise) Chunn and Leonard Hollister both of Fargo, AR; Napoleon (Bernadine) Hollister of Kansas City, MO; Wallace Hollister and Oliver Hollister both of North Little Rock, AR; three sisters: Sharon Harton of Dallas, TX; Lenetta (James) Brown of Fargo, AR and Beverly (Carl) Sanders of Shreveport, LA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 30 at 2 PM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley with Pastor Larry Daniel officiating. Interment will take place at Macedonia Cemetery in Fargo by C.J.
