Juanita Knowles Isby, 77 of Maumelle, formally of Holly Grove, transitioned on May 17 at her home in Maumelle.
Juanita was born March 27, 1947 to Elmore Knowles and Lucy Price-Knowles.
Juanita was baptized at an early age and became a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Holly Grove. After relocating to Detroit, Michigan she united with the Greater Grace Baptist Church where she remained until she returned to Arkansas to live in 2009.
Juanita received her formal education from the Holly Grove School District. She was a 1964 graduate of Holly Grove Vocational High School. She went on to attend and graduate Shorter College in Little Rock where she received an Associate's Degree in Mathematics. She went on to attend the University of Detroit where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics in 1971.
Juanita and her family relocated to Detroit in the late 1969. She worked at Ameritech Corporation as a Finance Manager and CFO for over 35 years until she retired.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, William Isby, her parents: Elmore and Lucy Knowles, four brothers: Llewelyn Knowles, James E. Knowles, Charles Petty and Marvin Bright; two sisters: Willie Mae Strong and Beatrice Bright.
Survivors are her son: Markus (Tywanna) Isby of Atlanta, GA; her grandson Patrick (Ivory) Hilson of Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters: Dr. Ashley (Mason) Crawford, PhD of Columbia, MO; and Alexia P. Isby of Atlanta, GA; and one great-granddaughter: Skyler Hilson of Atlanta, GA; a Goddaughter Shannon (Elmond) Burns-Tolbert of Gilbert, AZ; a brother William Perry Knowles of Chicago, IL; six sisters: Alice Knowles Simmons of Holly Grove, AR; Loistene Knowles Anderson and Regina (Harry) Torres both of North Little Rock, AR; Debra Ann Knowles Givan of Conway, AR; Joyce Toure of Pine Bluff, AR; Dr. Virginia Whitlock, PhD of Dallas, TX; and one godsister: Mary Parks of Little Rock, AR; two special nieces Ebony "Bee" Anderson and Dr. TaLisha "T'Nee" Givan ,PhD who cared for her throughout her illness; and two special friends Betty Vinson of Chicago, IL; and Sandra Shermon of Conway, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 11 AM at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 86 West in Holly Grove with Pastor William Black serving as the Eulogist.
