Kelvin Smith 61, of Forrest City, formerly of Brinkley passed away on Thursday July 18 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Kelvin was born on September 29, 1962 in Brinkley, Arkansas to Albert "Lottie" Smith Sr. and Rosie "Peggy" Austin-Smith. He was the eldest of 5 children born to this union.

As a child, growing up in Brinkley, Kelvin and his family attended Mount Canaan Baptist Church in Brinkley.

Kelvin received his education from the Brinkley Public Schools. He was 1980 graduate of Brinkley High School.

Throughout Kelvin's life he worked as a farmer Nash Farms/ Alan Vaugh Farms a combined total of more than 40 years. He had also worked as a Truck driver for CFI for 2 years.

Kelvin was united in holy matrimony to his longtime companion Catherine Black on January 13, 2021.

His parents Albert Smith Sr. and Rosie Smith both Preceded Kelvin in death.

Survivors are his: wife Catherine Black-Smith of Forrest City, AR; four sons: Lawrence Darnell Franklin of Chickasaw, AL; Markeevias (Sieara) Baxter of Little Rock, AR; Makel Brown of Sherwood, AR; and Richard (Lasandra) Black of Forrest City, AR; four daughters: Secret (Deangelo Moody) Smith of Fayetteville, AR; Marquissa (Sam) Barrett of Forrest City, AR; Taneisha Black of Forrest City, AR and Chaquita Black of Forrest City, AR; three brothers: Charles (Brenda) Smith of Brinkley, AR, Derrick (Karen) Smith of Brinkley, AR, and Albert Smith of Brinkley, AR; one sister: Pamela (Fernando) Smith of Horn Lake, MS; a god sister Beverly ( David) Washington of Brinkley, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 28, at 2:00 PM at Wheatley Civic Center, 934 N 8th Street in Wheatley with Elder Eddie Harvey officiating.
