Larry Sloan

Larry Sloan, 70 of Pine Bluff, formerly of Cotton Plant, went home to be with the Lord on Monday April 22, 2024, at his home.

Larry was born October 4, 1953, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Ollie Sloan Sr and VeElla Austin.

Larry received his education from the Cotton Plant Vocational High School, graduating in 1971. He would go on to attend Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Arkansas on a basketball scholarship.

Larry was baptized at an early age and attended Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. After moving to Pine Bluff, he joined Old St. James Baptist Church in and became an ordained Deacon under the leadership of Reverend Haly Wofford. He would also serve as ministry leader of prayer and on the finance committee. In 2020 he would reunite with New Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cotton Plant, Arkansas under the leadership of Reverand Emmanuel Cornelius and served as a deacon.

Larry was employed as a trainer at Evergreen Papermill for more than 42 years until he retired in 2020. He loved traveling and spending time with his wife, and family, looking at old trucks, watching sports (especially ) basketball, Walker Texas Ranger, and wrestling . He had a great since of humor and loved to laugh.

Larry was united in holy matrimony with Mary H. Harding in 1974. To this union two children were born.

His parents Ollie and VeElla Austin-Sloan, and a brother Ollie Sloan Jr. preceded Larry in death.

Survivors are: his wife Mary Harding Sloan of Pine Bluff, AR; son: Cameron (Erika) Sloan of Rosenberg, TX; daughter: Candace ( Michael) Lynn Sloan- Jackson of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren: Sade (Evonete) Dunn of Cleveland, OH, Taylor Burge, David Burge, Jamar Sloan, of Rosenberg, TX, Mariah Leona Jackson and Justice Allen of Kansas City, KS great grandchildren: Eian Dunn and Easton Dunn of Cleveland, OH; his twin brother Garry Sloan of Sherwood, AR; bonus son Patrick Loudermilk of Stuttgart, AR, bonus daughter: Tracy Harding Brown of Lansing, Il and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday April 27th from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home Chapel, 2704 Commerce Circle in Pine Bluff. Funeral services will be held on Sunday April 28th at 1:30 PM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley. Interment will take place at Ebenezer Cemetery in Cotton Plant by CJ Williams Funeral Directors and Cremations, 124 S.
