Lillie Irene Neal 72, of Augusta, passed away on Wednesday June 7, at Unity Health – White County Medical Center in Searcy.
Lillie was born February 23, 1951 in Augusta, Arkansas to Haze Nevels and Marian A. Hardy-Nevels
Lillie was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Bald Knob, Arkansas under the leadership of Bishop Larry Johnson for more than 3 years. She was formerly a member of St. John M.B. Church in Augusta for many years.
Lillie received her formal education from the Augusta, Arkansas Public Schools. She was a 1968 graduate of Carver High School. She went on to continue her education by attending nursing school in Media, Ohio.
Lillie was employed as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Woodruff County Healthcare Center in McCrory for more that 18 years. She was previously employed with Van Heusen Shirt Factory in Augusta and American Greeting Manufacturing in McCrory for many years until the businesses closed their doors.
Her son Demarcus “Woobob” Neal, her parents: Haze Nevels and Marian A. Nevels and her sister Faye Johnson, all preceded Lillie in death.
Survivors are her husband: Luther J. Neal Sr. of Augusta, AR; eight sons: Luther Neal Jr. and Kendrick (Debora) Neal both of Augusta, AR.; Willie (Darlene) Neal of Jacksonville, AR; Kevin (Felecia) Neal and James (Latifa) Neal both of Conway, AR; John (Sherod) Neal and Jamie (Jonna) Turner both of Maumelle, AR and Tony (Maika) Turner of Orange, Tx: her daughter Debra (Ike Jr.) Neal-Tripp of Augusta, AR; her granddaughter she raised Shala Neal of North Little Rock, AR; thirty-three grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, two brothers: Robert (Damita) Nevels of Batesville, AR and Joe Nathan Nevels of California; two sisters: Nora Nevels-Hughes of Newport, AR and Sherry Nevels of Conway, AR; three nephews: Walter Nevels and Marion Nevels both of Augusta, AR; and James Nevels of Newport, AR; eight nieces: Ranona Nevels of Newport, AR; Dana (Corey) Harris of Wilmer, TX; Demarkai Porter of North Richland, TX; Shamia Nevels of Conway, AR; Shonna Nevels of Jacksonville, AR; Romeeka Nevels and Justice Nevels both of Augusta, AR; and Anisha Nevels of Atlanta, GA; three dear lifelong friends: Savannah Gibbs, Annie Ward and Helen Duffy all of Augusta, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 17 at 2:30 P.M. at Holy Ghost Academy Church of God in Christ, 927 South 4th Street in Augusta with Bishop Larry Johnson officiating. Interment will be at New Quiet Cemetery-North in Augusta by C.J. Williams Funeral Directors and Cremations of Brinkley (870) 589-5036.
