Luada Penn Smith, 88 of Hazen, passed away on Monday March 11 at Hospice Home Care Center in Little Rock.
Luada was born May 30, 1935 in Wattensaw, Arkansas Russell Penn Sr. and Sylvia Thurman-Penn.
Luada was a lifelong member of Prairie Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Hazen, where she served as a member of the Usher Board for many years.
Luada was also a member of the Northeastern District Usher Federation.
Luada received her early education from the Biscoe School District in Biscoe. She then went on to attend from Velvetex Barber & Beauty School in Little Rock and later became a licensed Barber.
Luada was employed as a Domestic for several local families (Kosurek Family and the Kelly Family) for many years, before retiring.
Her parents: Reverend Russell Penn Sr. and Sylvia Penn; two brothers: David Penn Sr. and Darrell Penn Sr.; and three sisters: Clara Penn-Fisher, Lorene Penn-Thomas and Ruby Penn-Thomas all preceded Luada in death.
Survivors are: her son: James E. (Tonya) Sanders Jr. of Stuttgart, AR; three daughters: Beverly (Lawrence) Jackson and Teresa Pettus both of Little Rock, AR; and Vivian Curlett of Hazen, AR; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two bonus daughters: Sharon Cagle of Hazen, AR and Constance Holloway-Rogers of Little Rock, AR; two brothers: Reverend Russell (Neldia) Penn Jr of Searcy, AR and Joseph (Donna) Penn of Queen Creek, AZ; a sister Lendoria Penn of La Mesa, CA and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 209 East Clair Street in Des Arc with Reverend Maurice Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Green Grove Cemetery in Hazen by C.J.
