Martez Freeman Sr.

Martez Freeman Sr, 50, of Searcy, formerly of McCrory, passed away on Thursday, September 21 at Unity Health-White County Medical Center in Searcy.

Martez was born July 29, 1973, in McCrory, Arkansas to Louis Mooney and Flossie Freeman. He was a fraternal twin.

While growing up in McCrory, Martez was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. He has remained a lifelong member. Although he was inactive at St. John, he would attend numerous other churches throughout Searcy and other communities.

Martez was a 1991 graduate of McCrory High School. He later went on to attend Arkansas State University Beebe, where he received a Technical Certificate in Industrial Electronics.

Martez was employed at Pathfinders in Searcy, for which he found much joy and fulfillment for more than 4 years. He had previously worked as a transportation chaperone for Kids Unlimited Learning Academy in Searcy and American Greetings in McCrory for a while during his early years.

Music being one of the great loves of his life, Martez was well known in the community as "DJ Pete" because he was a Disc Jockey for public and private events and gatherings. There wasn't anything that he didn't know about music.

His father Louis Mooney; his maternal and paternal grandparents all preceded Martez in death.

Survivors are three sons: Martez Freeman, Malik Freeman and Camden Flowers all of Searcy, AR; two daughters: Latriece Briahna Freeman of New Orleans, LA; and Monique Freeman of North Little Rock, AR; three grandchildren: Mackenzie Freeman of McCrory, AR; Kali Ann Freeman of Searcy, AR; Evander Poole Jr. of New Orleans, LA; his mother: Flossie Freeman of McCrory, AR; his loving and supportive companion Jennifer Franklin of Searcy, AR; his twin brother Cartez Freeman of Oklahoma City, OK: his sister: Audrey Sims of Little Rock, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon, September 30, at 3 PM at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 411 East Main Street, McCrory, with Pastor Ross E. Granberry III officiating. Interment will take place at New Quiet Cemetery in Augusta by C.J.
