Michael Lynn Woods

Michael Lynn Woods, 60, of Marion, formerly of Augusta passed away on Monday, February 3 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven, MS.

Michael was born on September 6, 1964, in Newport, Arkansas to Walter Woods Sr. and Dorothy Egeston-Woods.

While growing up in Augusta, Michael was a faithful member of Ward Chapel Church in Augusta, Arkansas.

Michael attended Augusta High School. He was a proud graduate of the class of 1982. He later attended UAPB in Pine Bluff and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Economics.

Michael was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. for 41 years.

"Brother", "Lil Mike", or "Money Mike" as he was affectionately known was employed by AT&T for 19 ½ years in Memphis, Tennessee.

His parents Walter Woods Sr. and Dorothy Woods; and his three siblings Thomas Woods, David Woods and Maurice Woods proceeded Michael in death.

Survivors are his wife: Sonja Woods of Marion, AR; two sons: Landon Michael Woods of Dallas, TX and Petera Wilson Jr. of Memphis, TN; four daughters: Lauren Nicole Woods of Dallas, TX, Michelle (Steven) Ricks of Douglasville, GA; Marcquesa (Raphael) Brooks of Memphis, TN and Amber Bufkin of Memphis, TN; three brothers: Walter (Judy) Woods Jr. of Searcy, AR; Robert (Brenda) Woods of Frankfort, IL and Elmer (Patricia) Woods of Benton, AR; three sisters: Shirley Woods-Smith of Searcy, AR; Rose Woods of Chicago, IL; and Dorothy (Alvin) Rhodes of Little Rock, AR, three sisters in law Gloria Lewis Woods of Augusta, AR, Wilma Woods of Jacksonville, AR and Naomi Woods of Country Club Hills, IL and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 14 from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM at Zarephath Christian Church, 84 East Fairway Ave in Memphis, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15 at 11:00 AM at the Ward Chapel Church, 5th and Sycamore Street in Augusta, Arkansas with Reverend Gary Browning serving as eulogist.
