Remon Jackson, 83 of North Little Rock, formerly of Cotton Plant, passed away on Wednesday, February 28 at Superior Heath and Rehab Center in Conway.
Remon was born June 23, 1940 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to James Jackson and Lenora Ansley. He was raised by his grandmother Lula Clayton Davis and aunt Beatrice Ansley.
While growing up in Cotton Plant, Remon and his family attended Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church.
Remon attended school in Cotton Plant. He was a proud 1958 graduate of Cotton Plant Vocational High School. He went on to attend college at AM&N College (currently the University of Arkansas) in Pine bluff on a basketball scholarship.
"Crackerjack" or "Pops" as Remon was affectionately known, relocated to Chicago, Illinois in the early 1960's, where he lived and worked for more than 30 years.
While living in Chicago, Remon worked for Union Carbide Steel for more than 5 years.
Remon was formerly united in holy matrimony to Cuemiah Riddle. To this union three daughters were born.
His parents: James Jackson and Lenora Ansley; His beloved paternal grandmother Lula Clayton Davis and maternal grandmother Beatrice Ansley; and two sisters: Sharon Jackson and Gwendolyn Jackson all preceded Remon in death.
Survivors are: his daughters: Lorna Jackson and Rochelle Jackson both of Sherwood, AR Nina Jackson of Fayetteville, AR; and Remonda (Antonio Westbrook) Jackson of North Little Rock, AR; three grandchildren: Wallace Spearmon, Kristopher Mulinga and Katherine Mulinga all of Fayetteville, AR; a special friend and companion: Dorothy Carroll Williams of Little Rock, AR; three brothers: Albert Betton, Kelvin Jackson and Michale Jackson all of Cleveland, OH; four sisters: Janice Jackson, Karen Jackson, Audrey Jackson all of Cleveland, OH and Linda Blue of Cotton Plant, AR; and a host of nephews, nieces cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon March 16 at 2:30 PM at Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, 309 East Main Street in Cotton Plant with Reverend Tryone Carroll officiating. Interment will take place at Buckeye Cemetery in Gregory by C.J.
