Robert Benjamin Hatchett, 76 of Cotton Plant, passed away on March 8 at Sherwood Nursing and Rehab in Sherwood, Arkansas
Robert was born February 27, 1948 to Betty Hatchett in Cotton Plant, Arkansas.
Robert was a longtime member of Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church in Cotton Plant. He had previously attended St. Paul AME Church.
Robert received his education from the Cotton Plant Public School System. He was a proud graduate of Cotton Plant Vocational High School in 1966.
After graduating, he moved to Oklahoma where he attended a vocational school and trained as a butcher. Thereafter, he spent his early adult years as a tradesman in plumbing and carpentry and an electrical journeyman. His experience took him across the south until he returned home to Cotton Plant where he worked for the local Water Department and served as a volunteer for the Fire Department.
Those who were familiar with Robert knew him as the local handyman that never met a stranger. He was also kind, friendly, and a Razorback and Steeler fan to his core. He will be remembered by those who loved him for his adventurous stories and big heart.
His brother Donald Hatchett preceded Robert in death.
Survivors are his mother Betty Hatchett; brothers: Larry (Shirley) Hatchett of Little Rock, AR; , Johnny (Deborah) Hatchett of Arlington, TX; and Anthony Hatchett of Sherwood, AR; sisters: Bettie (Jack) Wilson of North Little Rock, AR and Rochelle (Lawrence) Ott of Sherwood, AR; sisters in love: Annette Hatchett of Pine Bluff, AR and Jackie Motton-Hatchett of Sherwood, AR ; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and close friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16 at 10 AM at Taylor Chael United Methodist Church, 309 East Main Street in Cotton Plant with Pastor Matthews officiating. Interment will take place at Ebenezer Cemetery by C.J. Williams Funeral Directors and Cremations of Brinkley (870) 589-5036 email: williamsfuneraldirectors2022@gmail.com
