Selma Jean Green

Selma Jean Green, 79 of Augusta, passed away on Tuesday, January 16 at her home following a lengthy illness.

Selma was born August 5, 1944 in Moro, Arkansas to Horace McLucas and Alberta Shaw McLucas. She was the widow of Creston "Mutt" Green.

Selma was raised in Augusta and attended the local public schools.

Selma was a longtime member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Revels, Arkansas.

Selma worked as a cook for the Woodruff County Nursing Home for many years. After retirement she returned to the workforce for an additional 10 years of service as a cook for the Woodruff County Senior Citizens Center. She truly enjoyed cooking.

"Sel" as Selma was lovingly known, loved taking Sister Trips with her sisters, where they traveled to as far west as California to as far east as Florida with many destinations in between. She looked forward to them.

Her husband Cresten Green, her son Willie Green and a grandson Justin Pryor, her parents: Horace and Alberta McLucas; brothers: Ira Cobbs, Charlie Cobbs, Lafayette Cobbs, Willie Cobbs, Archie McLucas; and a sister Rosetta Cobbs all preceded Selma in death.

Survivors are: five sons: Rickey McLucas and Bryant (Tren) Green both of Augusta, AR; Horace (Stephanie) Green and Charles (LaShanda) Green both of Austin, TX; and Creston (April) Green of Rockwall, TX; four daughters: Vickie (Wesley) Pryor and Debra (Joe) Bowser both of Austin, TX; Carla Green of Augusta, AR and Erica (Derrick) Collier of Rockwall, TX; thirty six grandchildren; forty seven great grandchildren; two brothers: Will (Lorraine) McLucas of Port Ritchie, FL and Andrew Cobbs of Bangkok, Thailand; eight sisters: Mabel Childs, Borace Roddy, and Maxine Lyons all of Omaha, NE; Arlee McLucas of Bartlett, TN; Prince Ella McLucas of Fort Worth, TX; Doris Spears and Alice Dodson both of Augusta, AR; and Delores Boswell of Detroit, MI; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held in Saturday, January 27 from 1 PM until 2 PM at Holy Ghost Academy Church of God in Christ, 927 South 4th Street in Augusta. Funeral services will be held in Saturday January 27 at 2:30 PM at Holy Ghost Academy with Reverend Archie Roark officiating. Interment will take place at New Quiet Cemetery in Augusta by C.J.
