Shirley Ann Williams

Shirley Ann Williams, 79, of Sherwood, formerly of Brinkley, passed away on Friday, August 23 at Hospice Home Care Center in Little Rock, AR.

Shirley was born on October 31, 1944, in Wilmot, Arkansas to Bailey Sherrer and Annie Sherrer.

Shirley received her education from Wilmot Public Schools. She was a 1962 graduate of Slack LeGrande High School in Wilmot. She was a proud graduate of the Slack LeGrande High School in Wilmot of 1962. She went on to pursue and obtain a Bachelors Degree in English from AM&N College in Pine Bluff in 1967. In 1976, She earned a Master Degree in English from Harding College in Searcy.

Shirley was faithful member of Mount Olive Ministries in Brinkley, Arkansas where she served as the Sunday school teacher and greeter. Since 2006, She has been a member of the Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas where she served on the mother board.

Shirley was united in holy matrimony to Jimmy L. Williams Sr. on October 13, 1964.

In her earlier years Shirley worked in education for over 35 years. She began her teaching career with the Hughes School District and subsequently ended up with a long career at Palestine/Wheatley School District where she ultimately retired after many years.

Her husband: Jimmy L Williams, Sr.; her parents: Bailey and Annie Sherrer; and her siblings: Leon Sherrer and Ethel Sherrer all proceeded Shirley in death.

Survivors are her: a son: Jimmy (Sammytra) Williams Jr. of North Little Rock, AR; a daughter Latonya (George) Jackson of Mableton, GA; five grandchildren: Alexandra Young of Little Rock, AR, George Jackson III of Mableton, GA, Kennedy Jackson of Mableton, GA, Jimmy L Williams III of North Little Rock, AR, and Madison Williams of North Little Rock, AR; two great grandchildren: Raine Young and Raylan Young both of Little Rock, AR; two brothers: Eddie (Erma) Sherrer of Chicago, IL and Burnice Sherrer of Chicago, IL; one sister: Virdell Sherrer of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Public Viewing will be held on Saturday morning August 31 from 9 until 10 AM. Funeral services will begin promptly at 10:00 AM at Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1215 South Schiller Street, in Little Rock with Pastor Roy V. Elliott serving as eulogist.
