Theodore Alphonso Williams Sr.

Theodore Alphonso Williams Sr., 95 of Cotton Plant, passed away on Sunday morning, March 19 at Forrest City Medical Center in Forrest City.

Theodore was born December 23, 1927 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Oliver Raymond Williams Sr. and Gertie Childress-Williams.

"Thee" as Theodore was lovingly known, was a lifelong member of New Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cotton Plant (Dark Corner Community).

Theodore received his education at the Cotton Plant Academy School located in the Dark Corner Community of Cotton Plant.

For more than 40 plus years, Theodore was employed with the Delta Plywood Company in Cotton Plant until he retired. He also farmed with his parents and siblings on the family farm all of his life until he was no longer able to do so.

Theodore was united in holy matrimony to Janie M. Mitchell-Chunn on July 1, 1969 in Clarendon, Arkansas. The brought together a beautiful blended family.

Five daughters Theresa Williams, Omi Williams, Gwendolyn Williams, Gertie Lou Chunn and Maude Hamilton; his parents Oliver Raymond Williams Sr. and Gertie Williams; three brothers: Earnest Williams, Chester Williams and Oliver Raymond Williams all preceded Theodore in death.

Survivors are: his wife of 53 years, Janie M. Williams of Cotton Plant, AR; Theodore A. (Talenishe) Williams Jr. of Little Rock, AR; Ocie (Annette) Chunn, Robert Chunn and Theodis A. (Joyce) Chunn Sr., all of Brinkley, AR; Edward D. (Carrie) Chunn of Wrightsville, AR; and Thaddeus (Sylvia) Chunn of Atlanta, GA; two daughters: Carolyn Sloan of Los Angeles, CA; and Clarice (Gordon) Smith of Little Rock, AR; 61 total grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters: Catherine Woods of Cotton Plant, AR; and Gertie Lou Hughes of Little Rock, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends survive him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25 from 3 until 5 PM at C.J. Williams Funeral Directors and Cremations, 124 South Main Avenue in Brinkley. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 26 at 2 PM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley with Reverend Emmanuel Cornelious officiating.
