Vanessie B Cooperwood

Vanessie B. Cooperwood, 87 of Brinkley, formerly of Clarendon, passed away on Thursday February 9 at her home.

Vanessie was born March 14, 1935 in Clarendon, Arkansas to Corrine Burgess and Sam Tatum Sr..

Vanessie was a lifelong member of St Paul Church of God in Christ where she served on the local and District Usher board, a devoted member of the Mother Board and Soloist for over 60 years.

Vanessie received her formal education from the Clarendon Public School System.

Vanessie was employed as a Cook by Jack Stevenson Restaurant in Clarendon for many years. She also worked as a domestic for local families in her community.

Vanessie was married to Rufus Cooperwood in 1967. He preceded her in death in 1974.

Her husband Rufus Cooperwood; a sons Edward Morrow, two daughters: Carolyn Jean Morrow and Rose Morrow; three grandchildren: Luke Avants, Lakellia Cooperwood and Charity Avants; ten siblings: Mercedes Walker-Mabry, Loreice Ash, Jeanette Tatum, Sallie Ann Tatum, Laye Walker, Sam Tatum Jr., Jeffery Tatum. Olivia Tatum, Willie Joe Tatum and Lee Andrew Tatum all preceded Vanessie in death.

Survivors are: One son- Albert (Angie) Tatum of Clarendon, AR; three daughters Norma Jean Teague and Ethel Morrow both of Brinkley, AR; and Lucy Taylor of Arlington, TX; 17 Grandchildren and a host 0of great grandchildren; two Brothers: Horace (Diane) Tatum of Pine Bluff; Wyotha (Amaris)Tatum of Fort Wayne. IN; five Sisters: Lola B Wesley of San Bernardino, CA; Creola (Jim) Tetley of Fort Gipson, OK; Sophie Tatum of East St Louis, Ill; Betty Austin of Fairfield Heights, Ill; and Audrey Weaver of Fort Wayne, IN; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral eld on Saturday, February 25 at 10 AM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley with Elder Robert Tyree officiating.
