Verlander Kenneth Parris, 68, of Holly Grove, Arkansas passed away on February 1 at the Arkansas Hospice Center/ St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock.
Verlander was born on January 30, 1957 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to Andrew Parris and Gloria Dean Parks.
Verlander was a lifelong member of the New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Holly Grove, where he served as a member of the Deacon Board. He also worked on maintenance of the church and kept the grass cut.
Verlander attended the Holly Grove School System. He was a member of the Holly Grove class of 1975.
Verlander was united in holy matrimony to Gloria Dean Marshbanks in 1988.
"Kenny Ray" or "Blob" as he was called by his fellow family and peers," was employed by O'Reilly Auto Parts for less than a year. He retired from Lennox Industries in Stuttgart after 25 years in 2020. In his early years, he was employed with Lee Darren Farms in Holly Grove for several years.
His wife Gloria Dean Parris: his son Terrell Parris, his mother Gloria Dean Parks and his brother Sherman B. Ernest all proceeded Verlander in death.
Survivors are three sons: Kentrell (Latara) Parris of Pine Bluff, AR; Coneill Parris of Holly Grove, AR; and Kent Parris of Stuttgart, AR; two daughters: Marquela Davis of Altheimer, AR and Phoebe Carr of Brooklyn Center, MN; daughter-in-law Sheena Parris of Holly Grove, AR; 12 grandchildren; his father Andrew (Shirley) Parris of San Diego, CA; his mother in law Mae Ola Cartwright of Holly Grove, AR; five brothers: Tony (Dee) Earnest of Little Rock, AR; Henry D. Earnest and Billy Ray (Angela) Parris both of Humphrey, AR; Christopher Parris and Andre' Parris both of San Diego, CA; three sisters: Ethel Marie Earnest and Donna Marie Earnest both of Little Rock, AR and Kathy Parris of San Diego, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral services with held Sunday February 9 at 2:00 PM at the CJ Williams Funeral Directors and Cremations Chapel, 124 S Main Street in Brinkley with Reverend Tommy Green officiating.
