Veronica Lynn Whitby

Veronica Lynn Scott-Whitby, 56 of Spanish Fork, Utah, formerly of Brinkley passed away on Thursday evening December 5, at Utah Valley Medical Center in Provo, Utah after a long illness.

Veronica was born October 2, 1968 in Brinkley, Arkansas to Jessie B. Scott Sr. and Ivory Dyson-Scott.

Veronica accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. As a child Veronica was a member of her father's church Union Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in DeValls Bluff, Arkansas, where she remained for many years. In 1998, she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in North Little Rock, Arkansas, where she remained a member until her passing. She moved to Texas in 2005, where she studied under Apostle Collins at Mercy Outreach Church of Deliverance and was ordained a Pastor. She would later move to Utah, where she obtained her Chaplain's license in 2024.

Veronica attended the Brinkley Public School System. She was a proud graduate of Brinkley High School class of 1987. She earned a degree in Nursing at Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute in Forrest City, Arkansas in 1989 and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Veronica would hold various jobs throughout her lifetime but her love of nursing would never leave her. One of her favorite things about being a nurse was her love of helping take care of others. She loved to serve and nursing was the perfect fit for her.

Veronica married Carl Whitby May 25, 1985. They were married for eight years and had four beautiful children. Although the marriage ended they remained close friends and co-parents and grandparents.

Preceding Veronica in death are parents: Jessie and Ivory Scott; brothers: Freddie Scott and Jessie B. Scott Jr.; and sister Rosie Scott.

Survivors are her children: CJ (Kristie) Whitby of Fort Worth, TX; Traci J. Whitby of Dallas, TX; Kaci (Michael) Whitby-Iliemena of Spanish Fork, UT: , Jackson (Becca) Whitby of San Diego, CA; Sosthenes Lawshea of Dallas, TX; Sabrilla Walker of Salt Lake City, UT; and Savanna Walker of Spanish Fork, UT; ; grandchildren, Gracie Whitby, Carlie Whitby, Mia Robertson, Ruthie Whitby, Phoenix Whitby, Zoie Whitby, Zion Whitby, and Kaylynn Iliemena; brothers: Willie (Mahalia) Scott of Montross, VA; Allen (Donna) Scott of Upper Marlboro, MD; W.D. (Sabrina) Scott of Stafford, VA; Ira Lee Scott Virginia Beach, VA; Jimmie (Ashley) Scott of Northfolk, VA; and Bennie (Shirley) Scott of West Memphis, AR; sisters Ora Lee Whitted of Mesquite, TX; Tina Parker (Don) Wright of North Little Rock, AR; a sister in law Margie Smith-Scott of North Little Rock, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday afternoon, December 14 from 1 until 2 PM at Mount of Olive Ministries, 1200 North Main Street Extended in Brinkley. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 2 PM at Mount Olive Ministries with Chaplain Arrica Fullbright serving as eulogist.
