Violet Dean Blake, 81 of Brinkley passed away on Sunday January 28 at a family member's home following a brief illness.

Violet was born January 22, 1943 in Monroe, Arkansas to Avant Bowman Sr. and Augusta Mae Sims-Bowman. She was the widow of Isadore Blake.

Violet was raised in the Monroe and Moro communities. She received her early education from the St. Paul Community School. She went on to complete her high school education from the Geroge Washington Carver High School in Moro in 1960. Throughout the years, she had taken numerous training classes and received certification in other educational courses.

Violet was a lifelong member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Moro, where she served on the Usher Board and as a part of the church Janitorial Staff. In her earlier years, she served as a Sunday school teacher.

Violet was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Providence Lodge # 51.

Violet lived in worked in Chicago, Illinois for more than 35 years before moving back to Arkansas in 1996. Since relocating to Arkansas to has worked as a Home Health Care Aid for Kindred Hospice for several years before retiring due to ill health.

Violet was married to Charles Davis in 1968. She later married Isadore Blake in 1991.

Her beloved husband Isadore Blake, her parents: Avant Bowman Sr. and Augusta Bowman, two brothers: Albert Willis, Eddie Morris Bowman and Avant Bowman Jr.; three sisters: Lottie Mae Bell, Pearlie Bowman and Virgil Green all preceded Violet in death.

Survivors are: two sisters: Mable (Robert) Culp of Brinkley, AR; and Estella Curry of Pine Bluff, AR; a brother Joseph (Shirley) Bowman of Forrest City, AR; a brother-in-law Issac Green of Moro, AR; an uncle Leon (Earnestine) Johnson of Clarendon, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening, February 9 from 5 PM until 7 PM at C.J. Williams Funeral Directors and Cremations, 124 South Main Avenue in Brinkley.

A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, February 10 at 2:30 PM at Liberty Cemetery, Highway 33 in Casscoe with Reverend Leroy Harper officiating. Services provided by C.J.
