Wanda Louise Conley-Purdiman

Wanda Louise Conley-Purdiman, 72 of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Cotton Plant, passed away on Thursday, February 22 at Roseland Community Hospital in Chicago.

Wanda was born August 8, 1951 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Emmitt J. Conley Sr. and Teola Mae Scott-Conley.

While growing up in Cotton Plant, "Skeeter" or "Wanda Lou" as Wanda was affectionately known, accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of First Baptist Church-James Addition in Cotton Plant.

Wanda received her education from the Cotton Plant Public School System. She was a 1969 graduate of Cotton Plant Vocational High School. She went on to attend college at AM&N College (University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) in Pine Bluff for 2 years.

Wanda relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1973. After relocation, she went to work as a cook for a local restaurant, Gerts for several years. She then went to work for Ware-Pak, Inc. for several years. He last place of employment as a House Manager/Supervisor with the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services-Individual Advocacy Group from 2002 until retirement in 2017.

Wanda was united in holy matrimony to Willie Purdiman. To this union a son Marcus was born.

Her parents: Emmitt J. Conley and Teola M. Conley; and two brothers; Leartrice Conley and Emmitt J. Conley Jr. all preceded Wanda in death.

Survivors are her husband Willie "Bill" Purdiman of Chicago, IL; her son Marcus Purdiman of Chicago, IL; her grandchildren; two brothers: Dennis (Frenchelle) Conley of Little Rock, AR; and Ronnie Conley of Cotton Plant, AR; her sister Brenda Conley-Ryland of Forrest City, AR; a special friend and caregiver Tonia Worsham of Chicago, IL; two special sisters in law: Memory Conley of Cotton Plant, AR and Elaine (Joe L.) Jackson of Little Rock, AR; an aunt Martha Mitchell of Los Angeles, CA and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 2 PM at First Baptist Church-James Addition, 176 McGowan Street in Cotton Plant in Cotton Plant with Reverend Donald Wilson officiating. Interment will take place at Ash Grove Cemetery in Cotton Plant by C.J.
