WC Holman

W.C. Holman, 89 of Clarendon, passed away on Wednesday, March 13 at his home.

W.C. was born May 2, 1934 in McCool, Mississippi to L.V. Holman and Geneaver Kennedy-Holman. He was one of seven children born to this union.

W.C. received his education from his local public schools in his hometown of McCool.

W.C. was employed by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department for more than 20 years before retiring. He had previously been employed with Marvin Archers Garage and Simmons Flying Service. He also owned and operated his own lawn car service for more than 30 years.

W.C. had been the manager and DJ at a local lounge in the Holly Grove area in his earlier years.

W.C. met and married Freddie Mae Nelson in 1978.

His wife Freddie Mae Holman, his children: Charles Petty Sr., Gene Nelson and Dennis Nelson; his parents: L.V. Holman and Geneaver Holman; three brothers: LV Holman Jr., Lonnie Holman and Ralph Holman Sr.; three sisters: Savannah Holman-Manley, Carrie Lee Holman-Bell and Girtha Mae Holman-Chaney all preceded W.C. in death.

Survivors are: three sons: Lawrence (Barbara) Nelson of Woodbridge, VA; Vernon Nelson of Burlington, VT and William Nelson of Little Rock, AR; two daughters: Vivian Nelson and Joyce Hampton both of Clarendon, AR; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother-in-law Wallace Petty of Los Angeles, CA; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousin and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon March 25 at 1 PM at the Clarendon Executive Hall, 630 Madison Street in Clarendon with Reverend William Black officiating. Interment will take place at Shady Grove Cemetery in Clarendon by C.J.
