Willie A. Ryland

Willie Archabald Ryland 71, of Brinkley, passed away on Tuesday May 2 at UAMS Medical Center Little Rock. 

Willie was born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas on December 22, 1951, to Horace Ryland and Tabitha Woods-Ryland.

While growing up in Cotton Plant, Willie attended Rock Chapel Baptist Church. After Rock Chapel closed its doors, the family began to attend Trice Chapel M.B. Church also in Cotton Plant.  In his later years, he would often attend the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Brinkley with his wife Everlyn.

Willie received his early education from the Cotton Plant Public School System. He was a 1969 graduate of Cotton Plant Vocational High School. After high school, he went on to pursue a college education when he enrolled in classes at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he completed 2 years of college. He would then relocate to Georgia where he attended Georgia Tech and went on to earn a degree in Engineering. In later years, he would enroll in computer classes at Crowley’s Ridge Technical School in Forrest City, where he would receive a degree in Computer Science Education.

Willie was employed as a Computer Analysis Technician by Terry Manufacturing in Marianna for (6 Years). He had previously been employed with Farris Fashion of Brinkley form more that 17 years, where he learned a lot of knowledge about the mechanics, technology and repair of sewing machines. 

His parents; one brother: Cleon Ryland; one sister: Jerre “Tina” Ryland preceded Willie in death.

Survivors are his Everlyn Ryland of Brinkley, AR; two sons Cameron Ryland of St. Louis, MO; Carlyn (Yolanda) Ryland of Little Rock, AR; four grandchildren: Jasmine Ryland of Dallas, TX; Cameron Ryland Jr. of St. Louis, MO; Carlyn Ryland Jr. and Brooklyn Ryland both of Little Rock, AR; daughter in law, Monica Ryland; three brothers: Willard (Angela) Ryland of Carlisle, AR; Larry (Thelma) Ryland of Dixon, TN; Emmanuel Hudson of Douglasville, GA;  two sisters: Gwendolyn Clark of Little Rock, AR; Daisy Beadie of Bloomington, Ill; his mother in law: Catherine Woods of Cotton Plant , AR: and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27 at 11 AM at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive in Brinkley with Bro. Osie Chunn officiating. Professional services by C.J.
